I've corrected formatting, punctuation and the like (its instead of it's, hyphenation, putting commas in logical places, changing "etc" to "et cetera" and "%" to "per cent", mostly because it's easier for me to type!), so hopefully if anyone thinks I cheated and just scanned/converted to text it is at the very least proof enough I did quite major work on it. Here's the link to what I typed, in raw TXT format: Perhaps I should put up a C64 cheats Wiki on my website or something? I've only been typing it for about 45 minutes, I didn't start it immediately, but hopefully it's of some use - at the very least, in motivation or some kind of conception. I would have done more, but I should go to bed - I've got to start work early tomorrow. Somebody want to take the time and try them all?Īnyway, I typed up the majority of Zzap! Ish 1's cheats. She waited over a year and I never did get around to collecting it.Īnyway I only tried the codes for Bruce Lee from - some of the others might work. After I moved out my mom called me because she wanted to clean out the attic - she said to come and pick this stuff up or it was going on the curb. That notebook has long been thrown in the garbage along with boxes of Zzap 64, Compute's Gazzette, various other C64 mags, my Ultima II, III & IV cloth maps and miscellaneous other cool stuff. Sadly the notebook we had written them down on is MIA. We found lots of cheats for games with it. I had a Super Snapshot V5 and that had a good cheat finder function among other things. What you're asking is for someone to take the time (LOTS) to go through the piles of mags they hopefully haven't thrown out in 20 years and compile a database of cheats for games that most likely haven't been played in years due to getting next generation computers/game consoles/moved to new house/new career/married/divorced/kids etc. I seem to vaguely recall issue 11 had some unusual listings with SYS codes, and.was it issue 51 or something which had the Cheat Bible in it, with an index of where cheats were? Blimey, I completely forgot about that one.Ĭan anyone remember that one? I suppose that'd answer the question in one shot.I have a feeling I'm quite wrong on the issue, though, and it was somewhat earlier.36 or something. As for Zzap! ish 31, The Def Guide obviously has a scan already.I can't remember any other issues. Commodore Format also once had a little book of Action Replay-only POKEs once attached to their mag.I still have the latter in a drawer somewhere convenient enough and I could probably type it up one day. Has anyone ever gone to the bother of recording in a non-scanned format the myriad of POKEs and SYS calls, listings and otherwise from issues of Zzap! 64, Commodore User and the like? There were a some issues of Zzap! in particular with heaps of POKEs (31 is the obvious one), and -most- had SYS calls. I think the Super Snapshot was superior to the Final Cartridge III - Final Cart had a nice gui though. Emulators can emulate cheat carts too, of course, and there's probably an even easier way.actually, using a cheat cart in this manner might also be a good way of finding more POKEs! If you use a cheat cart like an Action Replay or something similar, you can simply press the cart button and enter them in there, then quit out of that back to the game.

Lots of patience needed for this one too sometimes you have to go through lots of lines code to find the start location. If you know 6502 assembly you can load the boot program in a monitor and try to find the right JSR or JMP instruction that starts the game.

The SYS code to start a game can be tricky.

I tried entering the pokes as instructed and loading the game and starting the game then going into monitor mode and modifying the address directly with the hex values - no dice. I went to that site and tried the codes for Bruce Lee but none of them worked. You might want to try here: although sadly they seem to have plenty of pokes without any SYS codes to restart the game.
